Jean Paul Gaultier loves to flirt with bad taste. So was it at all surprising that his spring couture show was dedicated to the memory of Amy Winehouse? To a live doo-wop performance of “Rehab,” beehived models strutted the catwalk in an extraordinary variety of garments and looks — yes, Winehouse-inspired pencil skirts and boleros, but also an elegant draped evening gown in electric blue crepe and a fetishist’s corset dress in black and ivory satin. Here, a dress that proves that python, tulle, cabochon,embroidery roses and lace can — in the right mains — keep one from going back to black.
