Reindeer Stories: Rudolph and Olive

Playlist includes:
Christmas tales:
"Olive, the other Reindeer" (5 parts)
"Rudolph the red-nosed Reindeer" (6 parts)

Christmas songs:
"Rudolph the red-nosed Reindeer", Gene Autry
"Run, Rudolph, run", Chuck Berry (by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie)
"Little Saint Nick", The Beach Boys
plus Drew Barrymore, Hanoi Rocks and more

In 1997, Vivian Walsh and J.Otto Seibold teamed up to create 'Olive', an updated version of the traditional story of "Rudolph the red-nosed Reindeer," originally written by Robert May in 1939.

In the original story, Rudolph is a young reindeer born into Santa Clause's herd. But he has a glowing red nose and all of the the other reindeer make fun of him. That is until, one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa asks Rudolph to light the way for his yearly trip around the world delivering gifts and Rudolph becomes a hero.

The modern version changes things a bit. Olive, a Jack Russell terrier, hears the chorus of Gene Autry's rendition of the song 'Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,' and misinterprets the line 'All of the other reindeer...' as 'Olive, the other reindeer.' Now, instead of being a dog, she thinks she's a reindeer and so, in a time of crisis, goes to the North Pole to help out Santa.
